Help Choosing A Bed

Help Choosing A Bed

Need help choosing a bed?

On average, you spend one third of you life sleeping, so why not make the most of it?

The decision of buying a bed should not be taken lightly, there are lots of different factors to think about before you actually go out and buy your bed. See below for examples.

Will it just be you in the bed or someone else? If it’s just you who is going to be sleeping in the bed then it’s only your own comfort preferences that you need to think about. If there will be another person sharing your bed then you need to think about their comfort preferences, not everyone’s are the same, a bed that you think is soft may not necessarily be soft to another person. Same with the style of bed, what you might like, someone else might not.

Do you have a ‘Bed Budget’? You need to think about how long you want your bed to last. Most reasonably priced beds (around the £399 mark) will last you roughly 10 years. If you spend a third of your life in bed – for those 10 years you are spending 29,200 hours in bed!

What size bed are you looking for? Most adults typically sleep on a standard double mattress (4’6’’).
However, the size of bed you have depends on the size of the people sleeping in the bed, you should be able to put your arms behind your bed and still have room to move around without disrupting the other person in bed with you. The difference between having a double mattress and a king-size (5’0’’) doesn’t seem much to look at, but once your actually in bed it makes a big difference to your nights sleep.

What type of bed are you looking for? There are many different variations of beds that you can choose from,
Bedsteads – This is a bed frame that is typically sold without the mattress; you can have metal, wooden, leather, suedette, and mixed options.
Divans – This is a mattress and base which compliment each other in terms of support and comfort – unless stated these come without headboards, but do have the right system to attach a headboard to it.
Sofa bed / Guest Bed – These beds are usually used as a flexible solutions to overnight guests. They are compact and easily fit into small rooms.

Do you need storage in your bed? If your looking for a Bedstead, then you can buy under bed drawers that go underneath your Bedstead. However, not all Bedsteads are high enough from the floor to be able to include a storage options. All divan sets come with an option of storage, Please see below for different storage options.
